If you’re looking for a comfy face mask where your child can’t often touch their nose, mouth, and eyes, then a face shield may be a GREAT option for your little one.
Ever since the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) strongly proposed everyone over the age of 2 years wear a face mask while out in public, face masks are quickly turning into the ‘hot’ new fashion trend.
But let’s be honest, it can be difficult to get our kiddo to actually keep a face mask on which is why more parents are turning to face shields to protect their kid from the spread of COVID19.
What may be surprising is there are actually super CUTE face shields you can get in your child’s favorite color or design. 🙂
My intention in writing this post is to add value to your research efforts to help you make the most informed decision about the best face shields for kids on the market.
You want to be sure your child is well protected and safe.
Without further ado, here are the 5 top protective face shields that are parent approved. 🙂
Why Wear a Face Shield vs. a Cloth Face Mask?
I asked myself this question before I went down the rabbit hole of researching face shields to learn why more parents are turning to this type of mask for their kid.
What I discovered is that a face shield can be a better alternative to a cloth mask (especially if your little one keeps pulling off their mask or touching their face a lot)!
The benefits to having your child wear a face shield:
- More comfortable than a cloth mask so a child is more likely to wear it
- The entire face is protected
- The shield makes it harder to touch the nose, mouth, and eyes
- Super easy to clean and sanitize after each use
- Easier to breath
- Eliminates the ‘eye fog’ that can happen if your child has glasses on while wearing a cloth mask
- And did I mention, there are super cute designs? 🙂
VS.
The benefits to having your child wear a cloth face mask:
- Traps droplets that are released when your child talks, coughs, or sneezes (shields do this too)
- Easy to find or make
- Easy to wash and reuse
- Recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) over a face shield because there is more evidence surrounding the effectiveness of cloth masks
Important Takeaway: The CDC does NOT recommend plastic face shields for babies or infants under 2 years of age.
So if your child has a tendency of touching their face a lot, the shield is a wonderful choice.

Hello there! This is an amazing review you have got here. I am sure this information here will be of great help to any parent who come across it as it is to me. For me, I prefer these face shield for my kids compare to noise mask which almost killed a baby in my state. thanks for sharing this with me, I will place an order for this Reusable Face Shield for my Kids.
That is so devistating to hear about the face mask situation with the baby. I’m glad you found a face shield which can benefit your little one. Thanks for sharing.
Over here in the UK I’m finding many kids aren’t wearing any kind of face protection when out in public or in shops.
In fact on the very day it was enforced that face masks are mandatory in shops and other places, I was grabbing a coffee from McDonald’s after a very long night and a mother & child walked in, with the mother wearing a mask but not the child, who must have been 12. Since then I’ve noticed so many other kids of all ages wearing nothing whilst their parents wear one, which I find pointless!
I’ve been carefully taking my kids to quiet places to get used to the current circumstances to get them used to it (11 & 8 years old), but not quite our youngest yet, who is 5 years old.
After reading your guide, I think I’ve found the perfect solution for this one! I believe the hat shield will be a hit and she’ll be more inclined to keep it on and away from her face. And hopefully it won’t make her as anxious as a normal face mask may!
Thanks for the hard work!
Tony

Very informative about why a protective shield is better than a face mask, some great points in here which i would never have thought of.
after reading this post I would defiantly opt to get my child a shield over a mask because of the benefits it offers.
not only are they good for parents but the right facemask will have a child just thinking its just a cool costume!
