Meet Lenny (My Nephew)
Meet Lenny, a Cerebral Palsy rockstar!
He has limited mobility in his hands and arms.
My sister, Alycia, recently purchased the Liftware Level Starter Kit for Lenny to eat with confidence on his own.
She received this tip from Lenny’s feeding therapist.
Lenny’s feeding therapist advised the Liftware Starter Kits help you in several ways …
- To eat easier
- Gain confidence
- Eat independently or with minimal support
This inspired me to write these liftware reviews for a couple of reasons …
- First, there are two kits on the market…(1) Liftware Steady Starter Kit and (2) Liftware Level Starter Kit
- I wanted to research everything there is to know about both kits for my nephew and YOU (to save you the time to know if it’s really worth it)!
What I realized is both kits have one thing in common … to help the person eat easier.
The key difference depends on your condition to know which Liftware Kit to get.
Let’s break it down.
What’s the Difference between the ‘Liftware Level’ vs ‘Liftware Steady’ Starter Kits?
Liftware Level Starter Kit
This kit helps those who have limited mobility in their hands and arms (such as cerebral palsy, a spinal cord injury, Huntington’s disease) eat easier.
The spoon ‘levels’ out when you bring it to your mouth.
It also has a strap that goes around your fingers for added support.
The computerized handle simply straightens out as you twist, bend, or move your hand to eat.

VS
Liftware Steady Starter Kit
This kit helps those who have shaky hands or hand tremors (such as Parkinson’s disease or essential tremors) eat easier too.
This spoon has a computerized stabilizing handle that keeps your spoon ‘steady’ while you are eating.

In a nutshell, these spoons were made for you if you have any type of condition that limits movement in your arms and hands or if you have shaky hands.
Now let’s dive deeper into what the Liftware Level Kit is all about …
What’s Included in The Liftware Level Starter Kit?
There are 5 items you get in the kit …
- Travel pouch
- Soup spoon attachment
- Computerized handle
- Strap
- Charger
What is the Liftware Level Soup Spoon?
As you just saw, the soup spoon is automatically included in the kit.
It has an electronic stabilizing handle to keep the spoon ‘level’ as you bring it to your mouth.
The stabilizing handle has built-in sensors, a computer, and a motor that help sense and counteract the movement in your hands.
It simply straightens out as you twist, bend, or move your hand around.
Eating on your own just got A LOT easier!
Take a peek at how it works in the short clip below…
How To Use It (Super Simple!)
The spoon attachment and leveling handle are very simple to use.
Simply connect the attachment to the spoon (which turns on automatically).
VOILA, you’re ready to eat!
The spoon holds up to 1 tablespoon of food (15 ml) such as cereal, soups, and liquids.
After you’re done eating, detach the leveling handle.
Then, plug it back into the charger to juice it back up.
Product Features
Here is the Liftware Level Starter Spoon features to know:
- The battery lasts several days on a charge.
- The spoon automatically ‘levels out’ when in use due to the built-in sensors, motors, and an onboard computer that detects your hand motion.
- The computerized handle can not be put in the dishwasher or dunked underwater (it’s recommended to wipe the handle with a damp sponge or antibacterial wipe to clean it).
Now let’s look at two additional items you may want to think about getting if it meets your needs (which are not included in the kit) …
- Fork
- Carrying Case
It is important to know the utensil attachments are dishwasher safe (just not the computerized handle) OR to avoid the dishwasher altogether, clean the utensils by hand with a sponge, mild detergent, and warm water.
Add-Ons to Consider (Sold Separately)
These add-ons are super helpful, but if you don’t feel like they will add value to your situation then disregard them. 🙂
#1. Fork Attachment
The fork attaches to the computerized handle (just like the spoon).
It helps you eat foods like salads and pasta.
This fork is compatible with both kits the ‘Liftware Level’ and ‘Liftware Steady’.

#2. Carrying Case
When I saw this case I thought it would be pricey but it’s not what-so-ever.
The case is budget-friendly and helps you easily take all your attachments on the go.
It’s great to travel with, take to restaurants, or therapy sessions (basically anywhere and everywhere you’ll be chowing down on food)!
The hardshell case is made to protect your computerized handle.
There are mesh pockets that allow you to bring up to two attachments (like the fork and soup spoon).
A bonus feature?
The case is compatible with both kits the ‘Liftware Level’ and ‘Liftware Steady’.

I enjoyed this blog. I have never heard of this product before. This therapy is heaven-sent. My cousin has severe arthritis of both hands. she can’t bend her fingers anymore. I wonder if this might help her? She is an artist who had to give up painting because her arthritis was so bad. Very painful, she has to take medication nonstop. I watched your video and I think this might be able to help her. What a novel idea. I am sending her the information and your website on this immediately. I don’t think the price is exorbitant. We’re talking about replacing one of our most important motor skills.
Hey Joss, thanks so much for sharing! I love to hear that this could benefit your cousin. I hope she can find value in this starter kit. My nephew who has cerebral palsy just received this kit the other week and it has been life changing for him as he can now bring food to his mouth on his own (he is currently 4 years old). So glad there are people out there to make such wonderful products like this!

I must say you really did a great job in getting the review ready for us, I know it would be of great help to the public as it has been of help to me. I have seen similar products like this and I didn’t get interested in them but, I think I would get this one as its relatively cheap and looks it would the job just fine.
I’m so glad to hear you enjoyed the review and found it helpful. Thanks for sharing your feedback!
Awesome review! It does help me understand this product a lot. Whoever designed this product is an angel. But I wonder Is it suitable for elderly people with hand weakness? Because my grandmother had a problem with hand weakness, it became a problem with her eating. If this product can help my grandma solve the meal, I would like to buy it.
Hey Jack! Thanks so much for sharing. If your Grandma has limited mobility in her hands and arms the Liftware Level Starter Kit would definitely be suited for her. With her hand weakness if she is able to do the motion of putting a spoon or fork to her mouth, this would probably help her out. The kit includes a strap which she can put around her hand to help keep the spoon stabilized while she is eating. 🙂
Thanks for the review of the Liftware Level Starter Kit! It’s awesome that there are companies that are taking the struggles of those with such physical limitations as the ones you’ve mentioned very seriously. It was great to see the people in the demo video as they were able to eat with little to no struggle. That’s a beautiful thing. We all either have family members or people we know with one of the conditions that limit their arm and hand movement. This is a great product to pass along to them.
Thanks again! 🙂
Wonderful Darrin! It’s great to hear your feedback. Thanks so much for sharing. 🙂
