Common Questions and Answers…

What are Melissa and Doug toys?

The company has been going strong for over 30 years headquartered in Wilton, Connecticut. It was founded in 1988 by a husband and wife team, Melissa and Doug.

Their mission in each toy they make is to enhance each child’s mind and “provide a launch pad to ignite imagination and a sense of wonder in all children so they can discover themselves, their passions, and their purpose.”

What makes Melissa and Doug toys so good?

Melissa and Doug have made over 5,000 toys ranging from ages 0 to 8 years old.  That puts them right up there with the big toy titans Mattel and LEGO!

There are three main reasons why their toys are so popular among the masses:

High-Quality Materials.

When it comes to manufacturing the toy material, natural products are used like bamboo, wood, or cotton. They are high-quality durable toys built to last.

Reasonable Pricing.

Most Melissa and Doug toys range on average between $20 to $30 bucks. Their pricing isn’t overly steep, just slightly higher than other toy brands which range anywhere from under $10 to over $100.

Satisfaction Guaranteed.

Their toys are backed by 100% Happiness Guarantee. If your precious one is not inspired or happy with their toy, Melissa & Doug will make it right. You can give them a call at 1-800-718-5365 or email [email protected].

Why are magnetic toys good for toddlers?

Magnets are a fun activity to bring out the curiosity in kids.

Magnetic toys help with a plethora of skills such as:

  • Color recognition
  • Social skills
  • Cognitive skills
  • Motor skills
  • Thinking and problem-solving
  • Creativity

It’s a trendy activity that not only entertains but provides discovery, education, and building skill sets for our youth.

What is the recommended age for magnetic toys?

When it comes to Melissa and Doug magnetic toys, the recommended age is between 3 to 4 years old.  The reason is, smaller pieces are a choking hazard.

Of course kids older than 4 love the magnets too. 🙂

Are magnetic toys safe?

The short answer is yes.

Magnetic toys are safe based on the age-appropriate toy for your child.

Straight from Melissa and Doug themselves, this is what they have to say about the safety of the toys they make:

  • Products comply with the United States (U.S.), European Union (E.U.), and other international safety regulations.
  • They have a ‘kid testing’ program to review their products for children who are age-appropriate for the toy.
  • They test at different product phases.
  • They have independent agencies test their products.

You can check out their U.S. and E.U. conformity certificates for certain toy products by clicking here or their safety regulations by clicking here.

Thank you so much for sharing us an interesting and informative article. The main theme of this article is the best 20 toys for under 30. It is really laudable that you have illustrated this topic so well in your article. I have learned a lot by reading your article and gained a lot of cognition about it. Of the points mentioned in your article, I like The Benefits of Magnetic Toys. Using Magnetic Toys Develops Creativity In addition to Social Skills in Children Which I noticed in my baby. My kid plays using a wooden vehicle magnet toy.

Finally, I would like to say that the magnetic toys mentioned in your article can play an important role in the mental development of children for which I thank you again.

Hello there! this is an amazing review you have got here. My favorite among them is the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Wooden Magnets; I purchased this magnet set for my son who at the time was just shy of 1 year old. He has had an adoration of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, so when it was time for him to start standing on his own, I found these magnets as a good educational device to have on the fridge.

Wonderful Joy!  So glad to hear your son enjoyed the Mickey magnets.  My nephew is a HUGE Mickey fan too. 🙂  Thanks for sharing!

    Hi Lindsey,

I want to thank you for introducing me to the Mellisa & Doug Magnetic toys! I think they are awesome toys that my grandchildren are going to love! I personally love wooden toy products for their durability, and safety. I also like organic products geared toward teaching children as well as safety in the product construction.

I know the barnyard will be a hit with my grandson, because he loves opening doors to find something behind the door. He has books similar to this that he opens the doors and tells me what is inside before he opens it. And, How can you go wrong with Disney toys? He loves Mickey!

Thank you again, I have just located my Christmas gifts!

Hi Chas!  Thanks so much for sharing and so glad you found an awesome toy your grandson will enjoy. 🙂

This is so cool, I finally have an idea what to give to my godchildren. Magnetic dress up toys were not available in the market back then, so when I was a kid, as much as I want to play with dress up toys, I throw it away just because they are useless after first use. With these kinds of products, maybe children would play with it a little more. I am glad to see that you covered about the brand’s safety protocols, and it’s cool to hear that they have a kids testing center. Thank you for this, I am taking note. Cheers, A
