The cute storyline and beautiful illustrations alone make this a must-read.
- Learn early sight words
- Easy to read simple sentences
- Exposure to repetitive words
- Farm animals and the “noises” they make
Sight words are common words we see ALL the time in books.
Because of this, a child is taught how to memorize these words to learn to read.
It’s one of the FIRST beginner reading skills a child is taught early on.
Common sight words you see throughout the story include: he, the, my, see, and, a, in, is, you.
Let’s be honest, short stories hold a kiddo’s attention.
Kids feel a sense of accomplishment being able to read a book from start to finish.
This story is told with no more than a few sentences per page.
It’s a quick easy read taking only a few minutes to do!
Learn Word Repetition and Farm Animals
Learn a few animals and the sounds they make through word repetition.
For instance, the egg goes, “CRACK”, the pigs go “Oink”, the sheep go “Baaa”, and the bull goes “Achooo!”.
What’s It About?
The Runaway Egg is a charming story about a chick who is on “big brother duty” to watch his little brother (the egg).
Mama Hen leaves the coop so it’s up to Chick to make sure his little brother stays safe.
However, Chick finds his little brother dull and boring so he decides to take a nap.
The egg hatches and little brother is on the loose!
Chick takes off on a wild-egg chase through the barnyard after his little brother.
Will Chick catch his little brother?
Will they both return safely back home?
